Sultans

Surf Guide

Well, no one really seems to know why this wave is called Sultans, but it's safe to assume it refers to some Maldivian royalty or somesuch. It is a rather regal wave, with an easy behind-the-peak takeoff, followed by an ego-building wall just right for a couple solid lip bashes -- and then things start to get fun. The inside section grabs the reef and slingshots along the corner of the island pretty damn fast and shallow, allowing ample room for tubetime. Another good thing about Sultans is that it never closes out, making it one of the few big wave spots in the North Male Atoll.
