Surf Guide
The wave at the New Jetty, a 30-yard rock groin constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers after they strangled the South Jetty, is like replacing a supermodel with Roseanne Barr: it's shorter, fatter and uglier. Nevertheless, the New Jetty (which is located a football field south of Ventura Harbor) does have an occasional left with shape, particularly on solid southwest swells. No matter how good a left the New Jetty musters up, though, you can't help but think to yourself as you're pumping down the line: it just ain't the same.
